The 2027 Paint Colors of the Year Are All Green: How to Use Celery, Grounded and Webster Green at Home

For years, the big paint brands have gone their separate ways when picking a Color of the Year. Not for 2027. Sherwin-Williams, Behr and Benjamin Moore all landed on green, from a soft, fresh herb to a deep, classic hunter.

After more than 10 years working with color in textiles and interiors, I love this shift. Green is one of the easiest colors to live with, because it reads as a neutral the way it does in nature. Here's how to use each one.

Sherwin-Williams Celery (SW 6421)

Celery is the lightest of the three: a soft, muted green with a yellow undertone. It feels cheerful without being bright, which makes it a great first step into color.

  • Where it works: kitchens, laundry rooms, bathrooms and bedrooms, or on a kitchen island.

  • Pair it with: warm whites, natural wood and brass hardware. Avoid stark, cool whites, which can make it look washed out.

Behr Grounded (T27-01)

Grounded is a mossy olive with brown undertones, and it's the darkest of the three. It wraps a room in warmth, so it shines in spaces meant for winding down.

  • Where it works: bedrooms, dining rooms, home offices and lower cabinets.

  • Pair it with: creamy whites, warm oak, stone and antique brass. Because it's so deep, test it in rooms with less natural light before you commit.

Benjamin Moore Webster Green (HC-130)

Webster Green is a rich, traditional green with real personality. It feels classic without looking dated, especially next to modern furniture.

  • Where it works: living rooms, libraries and offices, built-ins and front doors.

  • Pair it with: soft off-whites, warm tans, wood tones and aged brass.

How to bring green into your whole home

The trick with a statement color is giving it supporting colors that work in every other room. Start with one green where you want the most impact. Then choose a warm white for trim and ceilings, a soft neutral for hallways, and one or two accents that repeat in decor.

If that sounds like a lot of swatch-comparing, that's exactly what my paint color palettes do for you. Each one is 9 colors chosen to work together across your whole home, with a guide to which sheen to use where. Shop all paint color palettes.

One tip before you paint: screens show color differently than real life. Order samples of your colors directly from the paint brand and look at them in your own light, morning and evening.
